Within the town of Rapidvale exists many strange inhabitants. The town somehow became home to many of the more eclectic figures of the frontier. Though walking among the people is a creature even the vampires are nervous about. Lara Wilde is a wendigo, a position only achieved through multiple acts of cannibalism. She is the only member of the county besides Kazrael who sits firmly past the boundary between man and monster. The vampires are at least considered civil in some places, but nowhere else is a wendigo considered anything less than a monster.

Lara was the child of a native woman and an explorer, a victim of their less polite form of colonialism. She was taken from her mother and her tribe by her father to be used for experimentation. When the estate fell into the miasma, she was found by a mysterious shaman who purposefully turned her into a wendigo by feeding her human flesh without telling her. She does not know who that shaman was, but everyone is pretty sure they have grudge to fulfill.

She would eventually find her way to the town of Rapidvale on accident while looking for Hailey. Olivia was away on an adventure at the time and by the time she got back, Kathryn had stabilized Lara's presence. In exchange for not eating the townspeople, they would trade with her. Olivia later figured out that giving Lara a job that paid actual money would tie her to the only town that would tolerate her presence enough to let her spend any of it. She was trained by the shaman who created her and taught several useful tricks. While she can give herself a human silhouette, beneficial in the miasma, she can never really hide what she is from inspection under the light of day.
